Assaggia Roma

An invitation to rediscover the history of traditional Roman cuisine, with its typical dishes and age-old flavours; a project born to recover and build on an invaluable heritage of wine and food, using our grandmothers’ genuine recipes.

This is Assaggia, a vibrant and comfortable oasis of fine food and conviviality. A journey into typical regional cooking, in search of age-old customs. A unique sensory experience in which tradition and culinary modernity come together.

The restaurant’s distinctive feature is its “tastes” – a completely original way to enjoy typical traditional dishes in a selection of small plates. The starting point is our grandmothers’ recipes, and all the emotions and memories they evoke. Long-ago flavours and aromas, a lost authenticity, and the cycle of seasons are transformed into modern dishes, without losing sight of their masterful simplicity.

With a selection of the finest seasonal products, Assaggia offers its guests two types of tasting menus: 6 or 9 small plates.

The authentic recipes of the Roman tradition take centre stage, to be savoured with an eye to modern enjoyment. Every dish on the menu has been reconceived with a contemporary flair by Michelin-starred chef Angelo Troiani.

In the historical setting of Via Margutta, one of Rome’s most enchanting streets situated in the immediate vicinity of Villa Borghese, the restaurant is a sophisticated historic space with bar and garden inside an elegant palazzetto. It’s the ideal place to sip a drink and be indulged, perhaps after having browsed in the local artisanal boutiques. Its peaceful atmosphere is an ideal escape in the centre of the city, where you’ll be completely charmed by Rome’s timeless beauty.

Assaggia Italia

Assaggia is a concept born to rediscover traditional Italian cuisine, and to capitalize on an invaluable heritage of traditions, typical products, and flavours. It is a journey into typical regional cuisine, in search of age-old recipes and forgotten dishes that to this day tell the story of a people’s customs, culture, and relationship with the land. It all begins with our grandmothers’ recipes to rediscover the flavours and aromas of the past.
Seasonal ingredients play a key role, and the menu changes according to the produce of the season. This is not only to capitalise on taste and intensity of flavour, but also to maximise the nutritious value of the foodstuffs, following the principles of a healthy and balanced Mediterranean diet.
